Claiming BCH from my bitcoin core wallet

Hi Guys,

I have a wallet which I've been using from around 2015 with bitcoin core (so its a wallet.dat).

I have spent coins since the split but I had coins at the split time.

Now of course I wish to claim these coins, but I wish to carry on using bitcoin core for btc.

I have installed Electron Cash, created a wallet.

Is it correct that

if I were to get the private keys from bitcoin core with dumpprivkey then enter the output from that command into the sweep window, is this correct?

This will not affect my correct btc held in Bitcoin Core?

This will show the balance I had as of block 478558 in Electron Cash?

Or should I download Bitcoin ABC, and import my Bitcoin Core wallet.dat/copy it over to Bitcoin ABC?(the problem with this is I do not have the resources for all the blocks needed to run a full node for BCH)

Thanks guys.

Unknown Deposit into my Bitcoin Core Wallet

I'm wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to what this could be and should I be concerned about it?
I started mining and I'm set up with an account at Slushpool. It deposits money to my desktop Bitcoin Core Wallet everytime it reaches the threshhold of 0.025 BTC. I emptied it out which is what the withdrawal is at the bottom. I'm mining in a pool with some buddies so I emptied the wallet so everything in the wallet would be from our effort.
O.K. so I look at it this morning and I see this odd deposit which is only 0.00077309 BTC. All of my payouts from the Slushpool are over the threshold of 0.025 BTC. Nobody else should be sending me bitcoin to this address.
Is this something I should be seriously concerned about? Or is there a rational explanation?
Thanks.

Bitcoin Core wallet question.

When I receive coin through Bitcoin Core wallet, I sometimes have to un-check (Generate native segwit (Bech32) address).

Both transactions were from Jupiter wallet.

Otherwise, it gives me invalid address.

Is this something to worry about?

bitcoin core wallet (full node) X (Hardware wallet integration) and other miscellaneous

I believe it's important to run a full node. but.... other than core bitcoin wallet is there a way to do this, easily?
Also... is there a way to intermagrate a hardware wallet with bitcoin core full node wallet or other forms of full nodes on a computer.
I'm sure this feature has been discussed but i think it would boost the use of full node adoption if it had hardware integration . i know you can point electrum personal server to a full node which has hardware wallet capabilities. but it's not easy for the average faketoshi

Redeeming coins from old bitcoin core wallet

I bought some bitcoin a few years ago and put them into a bitcoin core wallet on my laptop, and forgot about it. My laptop isn't big enough (memory wise) to download the Blockchain, and is stuck trying to sync with over 2 years to go. It also tells me to update the software? What should I do? I've backed up the wallet onto a memory stick, can I move it to another wallet still? Tried to Google it and they say it's possible but they talk about keys?? I don't know how to know what my key is?

I have a Bitcoin Core Wallet from 2013.

So, from around 2010 to 2014 I used to mess around with mining Bitcoin. I started with CPU mining then bought a dozen of those usb asic miners then acquired a couple blade miners. My backup was to have multiple copies of my Core wallet so I wouldn't lose the coins. My failure was to keep multiple copies of the password. I used KeePass to store my password. Long story short, the KeePass database appears to be lost forever. I only know that the password is 32 characters long. By examining passwords generated by the software I can assume that it only contains no more than 3 of each characters and no two characters repeat simultaneously. It could contain upper case, lower case, and special characters.
With my video card I can only brute force 5000 passwords per second. At today's bitcoin price it is not practical to invest in more computing power but someday for my kids it could be worth it.
Right now it is just a project I am working on because these challenges intrigue me. I assume with a 12 GPU mining rig I could get more than 60,000 passwords per second but it would still be a matter of luck to crack it before I die.
...and go

Safety of storing coins in Bitcoin Core wallet?

I was talking with a friend who got into bitcoin about 6 months ago who was adamant about storing his coins in the wallet.dat file that comes with Bitcoin Core. I told him that it's not as safe if it's connected to the internet while he updates his blocks. He said he took the wallet.dat file out of the application and stored it on a jump drive that he keeps in a safe deposit box at his bank.

Aside from needing to trust the bank, is this a good method for storing coins? It seems less expensive than buying a hardware wallet. Appreciate your thoughts!
